The annual music event, a primary source of revenue for the Beacon-based environmental organization, was cancelled in 2016 due the financial risk the festival carries. But, on June 17-18 next year, Clearwater's Great Hudson River Revival will return to Croton Point Park at Croton-On-Hudson, according to a press release from the group. "We are very excited to bring back the Great Hudson River Revival this year. said Betsy Garthwaite, Clearwater board president. "Music is such an important part of Clearwater's legacy, and we know that the Revival means so much to so many people. The festival dates back to the organization's launch in 1966 by Pete Seeger, the late Dutchess Junction resident, folk singer and environmental activist, according to Journal archives. READ MORE: At Clearwater, restoring the sloop and the organization The news continues a resurgent year for the environmental organization, that began with a Jan. 20 meeting in which the Clearwater Board of Directors discussed organization's finances in grim tones. But, according to Journal archives, individual donations increased in the wake of that meeting, and the organization received 254, 000 from the state, reimbursement for its sloop restoration project. In June, the sloop Clearwater was relaunched on the Hudson River after spending nine months being repaired. CLOSE The sloop Clearwater is undergoing an 850, 000 U. S. Coast Guard-mandated restoration. The festival will feature six live music stages, sailing on the sloop Clearwater and schooner Mystic Whaler, local foods and a farmers market, crafts and camping at the site, according to the press release. The festival lineup will be announced at a later date. Geoffrey Wilson: 845-437-4882, Twitter: Geoff_LW Read or Share this story.
